Grand Commander of the Order in Ostruznica

Sovereign Military Order of the Dragon took an active part in the defense against the catastrophal floods that stroke Serbia in May, 2014. The Order recruited and synchronized members that were sent in the most vulnerable zones, like Sabac, Ostruznica, Baric, etc.

Men were engaged in the process of construction of anti-flood walls and in sand bag making. The Supreme Command of the Order will keep following the situation in the next days, and will organize the further actions wherever a need appears.

RESCUE OF THREATENED INDIVIDUALS IN KOSOVO, APRIL 2014.

Mrs. Natasa Markovic (64), the only remaining Serb in the village of Brezanik, near the city of Pec was attacked by the Albanians in the night of the 13th of April. In fear for life, she was forced to hide in the forest which surrounds the village. Albanian policemen of the Kosovo Police refused to help her when she gave them a call. Fortunately, Mrs Markovic had the telephone no. of the regional command of the Sovereign Military Order of the Dragon since several months ago, our Order helped her with the humanitarian aid in one of our projects. Mr. Momcilo Arlov, regional commander for Kosovo immediately took the action and organized the rescue mission. At the end of the action, Mr. Arlov contacted directly Mr. Vulin, as well as the EULEX mission. The result of his engagement is a relative security of Mrs Markovic who was given two Serbian policemen from the police station of Gorazdevac to protect her.Despite the fact that this brave lady lives alone in the extremely hostile environment, after this night she told us: “They keep repeating to me where Belgrade is, but I know very well where I was born.”Sovereign Military order of the Dragon will keep following the situation about Mrs. Markovic.

Purchasing the Temple for the need of Serbian Orthodox Church in Copenhagen

A new temple of the Serbian Orthodox Church was purchased last month in Copenhagen, Kingdom of Danmark. Previous owner of the church was the Protestant church of Danmark. Serbian Orthodox Church bought the temple. Sovereign Military Order of the Dragon participated in many years of searching for appropriate temple for SPC in Copenhagen, along with the Diocese of Britain and Scandinavia and Parish of St. George Martyr in Copenhagen. Our Order, and particularly the national commander of the Kingdom of Denmark, Mr. Aleksandar Haјder played a key role in the process of finding and buying the temple. Mr. Haјder also serves as chairman of the board of the parish of St. George in Copenhagen. The photo shows Mr. Haјder next to Bishop Dositej and Father Aleksandar Samardzic.

Visit of Mr. Momcilo Arlov, Regional Commander of the Order for KiM to the Monastery Holly Archangels in Prizren, january 2014

Mr. Momcilo Arlov, Regional Commander of the Order for KiM, visited the Monastery of Holly Archangels in Prizren to obtain insight in the reconstruction of the monastery dormitory, destroyed during the march riots in 2004.

Starting from January 2014, representatives of the Regional Command of the Order for KiM, shall intensify visits to the Serbian monasteries south from Ibar aiming to establish as closer cooperation and assistance with the brotherhoods and sisterhoods of the same ones as possible.

Birthday of little girl Milica Djordjevic, the only Serbian pupil in Prizren city, january 2014

Mr. Momcilo Arlov, Regional Commander for KiM, used the visit to Prizren to hand-over the gifts to Milica, the only Serbian pupil in Prizren city, who from Tuesday reads the lectures for the first grade under the light of candle, and does her homework within the improvised school located within the Church of “Saint George”. Due to the debt of 150 Euro, Electro distribution of Kosovo cut of the electricity in the apartment where Milica lives with her mother Evica during the last seven years. Mother Evica doesn’t receive even the social assistance for the State of Serbia in the last seven years.

 

Milica follows every lent and has extraordinary spiritual strength, but also has a wish to start learning martial arts. Having learned before the visit that Milica, among other sports, favors fencing, Mr. Arlov used the opportunity to provide Milica with the book on fencing “Fencing System Damnjanovic”, making a promise to Milica to continue with future friendship between her and “Club of Serbian Military Fencing KNIGHTS” from Kosovska Mitrovica.
