This Orthodox Christian ritual is organized by the Serbian orthodox church in the coldest part of the year, on the Epiphany day, the 19th of January. For this occasion, a wooden cross is put in the river 33 meters from the river bank. People dive in the cold river and swim to touch the Holy cross. The tradition of swimming for the Holy cross exists in all towns and villages in Serbia. Our members were swimming on several spots (on the photos is shown the swimming under Kalemegdan fortress in Belgrade).

The action in United Kingdom was coordinated by Mr. Steve Logan, the station commander at Caerphilly and Rhymney fire stations and the leader of Blazing to Serbia project.
